don’t be stupid, a helmet would have made no difference. What we need is for drivers to be taught to take care around bikes, and punished if they do not.

Thailand has its fair share of road accidents. Though you can make life safer on the roads following some basic rules

On a motor bike wear a helmet
Do not drive aggressively
Wear your seat belt.
Do not think it is your right of way
Do not drink drive

The roads in Thailand are very dangerous, here in Pattaya we have a death trap road called the Suckumviet highway. Every day there are many crashes with people being injured and sometimes killed.

If you travel around pattaya enough during the day, you will witness motor bike accident after accident and yet both the local people and the tourists most of the time do not wear crash helmets.

Last March I was bitten by a stray dog, and attended the Bangkok Pattaya hospital. It took the staff roughly an hour to fully treat me. In this time 3 road accident victims were rushed into Emergency for treatment.

The Roads in Thailand are dangerous, and like most risks, if you understand them first, you might take extra care..
