Moped Freight Truck Freak Accident on Thai Highway: Gruesome Blood and Guts Death Reality Check

If you got a weak stomach, take a few deep breaths before continuing…

The witnesses, descriptions, images, and critique regarding death that follow might shake/stir your innards a bit, but none-the-less, should be held as a prime reinforcement factor for insight, focus, and ultimately a true determination and dedication for harmonious survival and persistence in the wonderful waves of life.

About 300 kilometers into the return trip from Phuket to Bangkok, early afternoon, Wednesday, December 10,  just north of Surathani city at an intersection near Chaiya district, the Siamerican Wanderer witnessed yet another gruesome reality check.

It hadn’t been since Boxer Day 2004’s Asian Tsunami reconstruction/corpse clean up volunteering that SW saw raw mutilated human corpses live before his eyes–and even those had been well into a week long of decomposing upon exposure to his live senses.

On the last Bangkok-Phuket trip in October, there were a few freak accidents along the road certainly with some dead humans along side, likely dying and injured bodies, but then, SW and his travel-mate, Steve didn’t have it in them to be nosy enough to stick around and reconfirm tragic reality. And there have been a few other witnesses on Thai roads over the years with twitching and breathing, albeit breathing bodies lying on the road after an accident

This time, it was in broad daylight, right smack in the middle of the road, unavoidable. Today, the SW had every reason to reconfirm the reality shock of sudden death, particularly in regards to ensuring utter avoidance for his own path, considering he still had some 600 kilometers to go before the day would be through.

The accident couldn’t have happened much long before as a crowd was only rapidly starting to grow; curious pedestrians gathering to get a closer look as Rescue Volunteers and Police orderly conducted order to such chaos. The thought of raw and live death and blood greatly tickled the SW’s curiosity and he pulled over just to confirm such a shock, gathering with several dozen local onlookers, inconspicuously snapping a few vague shots on his .7 megapixel mobile cam.

This time it was a freak freight truck-motorcycle accident scene involving a young boy, and perhaps his mother, evidence pointing to presumably their motorbike crushed under the front left wheel of a 10 wheeler Dutchmill delivery truck. Considering it was just past the traffic lite intersection on Asia Hwy 41, it can be concluded that the definite perpetrator is none other than senselessness, selfishness, and the foolish acting on unreasoned rush–that and perhaps bad timing as some might say.

All that was for sure was the first one that the SW passed was a young boy, perhaps between the age of 10 and 14, lying twisted and lifeless in the middle of the highway,  his brains surely splattered on rocky tar as police calmly and professionally detoured traffic around, investigating the evidence and witnesses at the live tragic crime scene, as rescue volunteers–identified by the yellow Chinese characters on blue work shirts–awaited the Police orders to finally remove the gruesome limbs and guts from broad daylight public view and into their volunteer ambulance truck.

A few meters ahead of the young victim was the second corpse, guessed to be an older female with long curly hair–brain and guts spilling out everywhere in a puddle of blood just the same as her? junior. Surely, not an ounce of breath lounged in either of the two by the time SW arrived on scene.

A few meters ahead of the two corpses was the Dutch Mill Truck with twisted moped metal under its wheels. Chances are whoever was driving the druck certainly survived and had long fled the scene as an after-shock reflex.

Who’s to lay fault is pointless now, for it could have been either if not both. Death will come to all, either unnaturally or naturally, bottom line.

As it happens everyday on every corner of the earth, life was snatched away in a flash, and it will continue to happen so.

So then, the point seems clear and simple: do everything in one’s will to allow death to be a natural occurrence, at least that’s what the author thinks. You?

Just ahead of the traffic light, something bad has happened

A crowd is gathering to view two bloody victims splattered on the road

Plastic covering up the mess is a clear signal that the corpses are lifeless–here rescue workers prepare to move the young boy from public view

The murder weapon is this 10 wheeler freight truck. Under the wheel is the twisted metal remains of the victims motorbike

The roads in Thailand are very dangerous, here in Pattaya we have a death trap road called the Suckumviet highway. Every day there are many crashes with people being injured and sometimes killed.

If you travel around pattaya enough during the day, you will witness motor bike accident after accident and yet both the local people and the tourists most of the time do not wear crash helmets.

Last March I was bitten by a stray dog, and attended the Bangkok Pattaya hospital. It took the staff roughly an hour to fully treat me. In this time 3 road accident victims were rushed into Emergency for treatment.

The Roads in Thailand are dangerous, and like most risks, if you understand them first, you might take extra care..

Wow, that is most tragic. Does the Siamerican wear a crash helmet when traveling?

  4. Darren Says:

Thailand has its fair share of road accidents. Though you can make life safer on the roads following some basic rules

On a motor bike wear a helmet
    Do not drive aggressively
    Wear your seat belt.
Do not think it is your right of way
    Do not drink drive

  5. Motorbike helmets Says:

This is so sad! That is why wearing a helmet is so important for anyone who rides a bike or motorbike. Accidents happen anywhere and without warning.
