Dear Galileo หนีตามกาลิเลโอ : Thai Europe Adventure – Romance – Friendship Film


http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/th/8/89/Dear_Galileo.jpgDirected by Nithiwat Tharatorn starring Ray Macdonald (as Pisit) Chutima Theepanart (as Cherry), and Jarinporn Joonkiati (as Noon), Dear Galileo is a warm and modern Thai flick exploring the stretching bonds of friendship and love across the borders of Europe. Beginning in Thailand, the two prime characters, Noon and Cherry jump straight to the point, literally, doing a dual bungee jump, painting their closeness and commitment as best friends, making plans to take leave from studies to tour and work their way across Europe with no definite return timeline.

 

Fulfilling the dreams and fantasy of many a young (educated) Thai boy and girl, Noon and Cherry vow to make it to such famous sites as Big Ben, Stone Henge, Eiffel tower, and the leaning tower of Pisa—but first must conquer the first hurdle of telling their fathers, never mind immigration visas—the convenience and limitation of screen-writing.

 

As is the reality for most mobile Thais overseas, they make their living serving tables and chopping vegetables at Thai restaurants for minimal yet sufficient under-the-table wages, starting in London, eventually moving onto the likes of Paris and ultimately Milan.

 

While in Paris, their tight bond reaches its climax , around the same time the third character, Pisit comes into the picture. Without spoiling the art and outcome of this film, the author will only say he was initially expecting to see some kind of love triangle—guy comes between friends—plot, but was surprised of how the plot actually unfolded. While not the scheming, dramatic love triangle plot that it appears, it wa, nonetheless, a warm and emotional story overall with realistic and convincing acting and  90 % Thai dialogue, definitely worth seeing with your best friend.
