Went to Lake point yet again--this time I wasn't alone. My Finnish friend, Sonny who was with me for the Loi Kratong festivities joined me. We arrived to the Resort on Sunday evening, which was completely packed with young Thai trendy wake boarders and their beautiful girlfriends. These guys were serious, likely from Bangkok, unafraid to trie 720's and backflips off the ramps--definately on par with the Phuket boarders I've seen.

Anyway, Sunday was too late for wakeboarding so we just chilled out in our modified boat turned bungalow some, eventually coming out to the restaurant for a few games of snooker and beer. On Monday, we got up and about to the cable lake by about 1 pm. I started imediately while my friend headed into town to hit up the ATM.

My prime goal was to get a full revolution on the mono ski which I accomplished on my first try. Though that was out of the way, I met my new barriers. For the 4-5 hours of play I got in, I must have only made like 4 full revolutions, and fell atleast 20 times at various corners. For some reason, I started to miscalculate my turns and it stuck with me. Perhaps it was the fatigue and or some other psychological stigma I couldn't tackle, but I definately was worse off than I had ever been in the previous 3 trips.

My friend, Sonny, ended up trying the wake board from the start but after about 4-5 falls from start, and drained from swimming and climbing back up, he decided to take on the knee board of which he was able to make it to the far end of the lake each time, and fall off at the corners.

Well, now I start to feel the aching of it all--this time I took some pretty wacky flipping/rolling bloopers on the turns. Luckily it's only water, but my neck still hurts none-the-less--though I only realize this a day later plus.

Just got back from several hours of wakin at Lake Point. Arived there about 14.00 and by 16.45, I was so worked out. This time I made it a point to try the other methods that I haven't yet tried--that being the skis and mono-ski. After my second try, I made it one round on the normal skis. As far as the mono ski, it took me 3 or 4 tries to get going from the start but once I got going, I made it to the 3rd turn (one before completing a revolution) before falling off. I was determined to complete a revolution on the mono-ski but the mono-ski definately required more strength to keep oneself up, and in the end after some 10 tries, I was too drained and only ever made it to the 3rd turn. Next time, I will start with the mono ski with full energy--speaking of energy, I'm drained and despite my stretches prior to going, I'm sure I'll feel the full heat tomorrow.

I also love wake-boarding. I had my own wake-board in last 4-5 years. But I already sold it because of tight schedule and no time to wake-boarding. :(

If I have a chance, I will go to wake-boarding again. I once visit lake point in Ratchaburi province.

In Bangkok, the closest cable board-ski park is Club Taco on Bangna Trat Km 13 (Eastern Bangkok) towards the new airport.

And then there is Olarn Park somewhere around Nakhon Pathom (Western flank of Bkk metropolitan area) See this link for directions to Olarn park.

Not so far drive from Bangkok, you have Lakeland in Pattaya as well as Lakepoint in Ratchaburi, the place I went to (see link above for website, map and directions).

The other park I know of is in Phuket. Aparently there is only five in Thailand though I did hear one unconfirmed report that Lopburi (3 hours north of Bangkok) has (or used to have) one... not really sure.
