Throughout the year, the water levels vary. This picture taken around Chinese New Year (mid February 2007) shows how the western bank of the Ping is quite dry. Only months before this picture was taken, the entire central region, particularly the Chao Phraya river basin, was completely flooded, several meters higher than the level seen in the photo below.
